Three generations of the same family have kept this shop running.
Matt Bolick runs the shop and owns it with his wife, Stacy. Their daughter works with the shop foreman on customer orders.
The crew has more than 60 years of combined experience, and one machinist has run these machines for over three decades. When you call with a problem, you talk to someone who works in the shop.
Since 1970, R.H. Bolick has machined parts for local manufacturers and mold makers, along with the machine builders who call when something needs converting or rebuilding. We’re a family business with a longtime crew, and we plan to stay rooted for a long time to come.
To be the machine shop manufacturers across the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia call first for work that needs a fast turnaround and a shop willing to think through a complicated setup.
Calls usually start with a part that needs to be made or a machine that’s down. Customers send drawings their engineers designed, or they bring in a worn part to be remade. Either way, we start with what you have. If your part doesn’t fit our equipment, we’ll tell you.
We’re a job shop, so we take one part or a production order. We tell you the truth about timing up front:
Rush jobs: Usually ready within 24 to 48 hours of drop-off when the part allows it. A recent rush job went out the same day, about six hours after it came in.
Standard jobs: About two weeks.
Calls and emails: You’ll hear back within 24 hours.
A part that arrives in the morning can often leave that afternoon. When it can’t, we’ll say it could be tomorrow morning.
Our customers are manufacturers. Three kinds of work come through the shop most often:
Fiber-optic companies: We machine parts for local fiber-optic companies and for a machine builder that supplies them.
Equipment refurbishers: One customer refurbishes older imported saw-blade sharpeners and converts them to CNC controls, and we make many of the replacement parts.
Plants running overseas equipment: When waiting on the original manufacturer would cost weeks, we remake the part here.
Other machine shops send us water jet work too. We cut the parts, and they finish the machining in their own shops.

Matt sponsors a bot battle event at a local science center every year, alongside other local companies. We cut keychains for it on our water jet.
