R.H. Bolick & Company offers water jet cutting services in Hickory, North Carolina. Over the last ten years, that work has grown into a specialty of the shop. Our two water jets cut material up to three inches thick. Send a drawing or describe the part, and you’ll hear back within 24 hours.
We run two water jets, and both cut material up to three inches thick:
OMAX 60210
Maxiem
A water jet forces high-pressure water mixed with garnet, the same abrasive used to make sandpaper, through the material. The cut stays cold and the edge comes out smooth when the machine is set up correctly. We cut the these materials:
Steel
Stainless steel
Aluminum
Titanium
Plastics, including Lexan (polycarbonate)
Rubber
We cut a lot of Lexan for other companies, and many people use it for machine guards. Glass and stone aren’t materials we cut. If you’re unsure about your material, call us and we’ll confirm the fit.
Cutting happens in water, so no heat builds up in the part. That matters because heat can warp a piece or work harden the material, which makes the next machining step harder. Water jet cutting avoids both problems.
Aluminum melts at a lower temperature than steel, which is one reason many customers choose water jet cutting for it. For precision water jet cutting that moves on to our mills, the part arrives with a smooth edge and no heat-related warping or hardening.
Other machine shops send us parts to cut out. Some of it is overflow. It might be thicker aluminum and steel than their own equipment can cut. If your shop has a part that’s beyond your own equipment, send us the drawing and we’ll confirm the fit.
Parts cut here can move straight to our mills for finishing. Many jobs use more than one of our capabilities. Learn more about our Machining Services and Welding Services.
We’re a job shop, so one part and production run both get the same attention. Jobs of one or two pieces are routine for us. Turnaround depends on the part:
Standard work: typically about two weeks
Rush work: usually ready within 24 to 48 hours of drop-off
Up to three inches, on both of our machines, the OMAX 60210 and the Maxiem.
